New Savory Cocktail Menu at Burritt Room + Tavern

Would you like a little umami in your cocktail? Burritt Room + Tavern Chef Luke Knox and Bar Manager Josh Trabulsi just rolled out a new savory cocktail menu, featuring chef-driven drinks with vegetal, nutty, sour, vinegary, and umami-rich notes. Pink peppercorn, pickled radish and sherry vinegar add brightness to Dolin Blanc and gin in the Mr. Gibson. The black-pepper garnished Breakfast of Champions pairs house-made onion tomato water with mezcal and Salers gentiane to create an artisanal-style bloody Maria. // 417 Stockton Street

Mexican Wine Dinner at The Barrel Room

Bet you didn't know the oldest winery in the Americas is located in Mexico's Parras Valley, in the northern state of Coahuila. Casa Madero, established in 1597, will be a featured winery at The Barrell Room's Mexican Wine Paired Dinner, slated for Thursday, July 9. The $85 prix fixe meal will showcase five courses of traditional Mexican cuisine, paired with five wines from Parras Valley and Baja, California, including L A Cetto Chenin Blanc, Casa Madero Chardonnay, San Lorenzo Cabernet, L A Cetto Nebbiolo, and L A Cetto Petite Sirah. Foreign Cinema Hosts Guest Sommelier

Also on Thursday, Foreign Cinema will host Matt Licklider of LIOCO Winery as guest sommelier, during dinner service. He will be on site from 5:30 to 11:00pm showcasing LIOCO wines from Sonoma, Mendocino and Santa Cruz counties, interacting with guests and providing tasting notes and pairing suggestions. LIOCO's wines come from fruit purchased from some of California's most exclusive vineyards, are made in a state-of-the-art crush facility in Santa Rosa, and are sold to a private mailing list of wine collectors in 25 states and three off-shore markets.
