Pastry chef Thip (formerly of Cortez and Luce) is teaching two-hour hands-on classes in French meringue technique. A demonstration is followed by hands-on practice, taught in a private loft in San Francisco. Cupcakes are so three years ago. Anchor & Hope celebrates its second anniversary!

Head to Anchor & Hope to celebrate the fish shack’s second anniversary on April 22 from 4-7 p.m.. The restaurant will be offering $2 beer and wine specials, an extended happy hour menu and, since it is a birthday, after all, there will be cake!

Get Dirty on Earth Day

In honor of Earth Day on April 22, 18 Reasons will be screening the documentary Dirt!, narrated by Jamie Lee Curtis, that explores the relationship between living, breathing soil and humans and brings to life the environmental, economic, social and political impact of soil.

Start the weekend early at Showdogs Jazz Friday

Every Friday night from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Showdogs is running a special happy hour for the post-work crowd. Head to the hotdoggery for bar bites (including fried chicken wings, cheesesteaks and fried chicken sandwiches, as well as their usual links and fries), plus beer and live jazz.

Blue Ribbon comes West

On April 24, the brothers behind the New York-based Blue Ribbon group of restaurants, Bruce and Eric Bromberg, will be at Omnivore Books signing copies of their latest cookbook, The Bromberg Bros. Blue Ribbon Cookbook, filled with recipes for the restaurant's signature dishes.
