Eat It: Fundraisers, V-Day Dinner and The End of Beer Week

Heart 4 Haiti Benefit at La Cocina
On February 12 La Cocina will host a Hearts 4 Haiti benefit sale and auction. Local food businesses—including Ritual Coffee Roasters, Kika’s Treats, Bi-Rite Market and many, many more have donated products for the sale, and proceeds will benefit Partners in Health. The event runs from 6-9:30 p.m. Stop by to pick up a treat for your Valentine!


Food from the Heart at the Ferry Building
Sample hors d’oeuvres, wine and chocolate at the 7th annual Food from the Heart event on February 12. Stroll through the Ferry Building nave from 5 to 8 p.m., tasting your way through the various offerings. Tastes are $2, glasses of wine are $4, and admission is free. Proceeds benefit Slow Food San Francisco and will be used to send a CUESA delegate to the annual Slow Food Terra Madre event in Italy.

18 Reasons Producer Dinner with Handley Cellars
Spend Friday night drinking fabulous wine and enjoying a serious feast at 18 Reasons' Handley Cellars Producer Dinner on February 12—Milla Handley will be on hand to talk about her 59-acre vineyard and the 14,000 cases of wine they produce. You should be on hand to drink it! Tickets are $85 (general) and $75 for members.

Dinner and a Movie with Graffeats Guerilla Dining
Spend Valentine’s day at a five-course, five-flick dinner—featuring foie gras, chocolate stout ice cream and more, all for $55 ($75 with wine pairings). The dinner will be held at the Gray Area Foundation for the Arts and begins with cocktails and live music at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. Each course of the meal will be paired with a short film.

Beer Week Closing Party at Trumer Brauerai
To conclude beer week, Trumer is throwing one final bash on February 14. The party will feature 20 breweries (including 21st Amendment, North Coast and Sierra Nevada) along with BBQ and tours of Trumer’s brewery. Free shuttles will be running from downtown Berkeley BART, from 3 p.m. onward (the event runs from 4-8 p.m.). Tickets are $40 in advance, $50 at the door, and $25 for beer industry folks.
