On February 20 Berkeley-based wine importer and author Kermit Lynch will be at Omnivore Books for a wine tasting and a reading from his two books. The event is free and runs from 5-6 p.m.

Special Soba dinner with chef Kanji Nakatani
Japanese chef Kangi Nakatani, who hails from the soba-loving town of Saitama, will be cooking a special soba dinner at Chez Panisse on February 21. The multi-course meal will include something raw, something fried and many other surprises, and each course will be paired with sake selected by Beau Timkin of True Sake. The meal is $85 and reservations can be made by calling 510-548-5525.

Meatpaper Issue 10 Launch Party at Pizzaiolo
Gather your food-loving friends to celebrate Meatpaper’s latest issue. Oakland restaurant Pizzaiolo will host Meatpaper’s Issue 10 launch party on February 21 from 7-10 p.m., celebrating the latest work with wine, cocktails, beer and lots of small bites prepared by the Pizzaiolo chefs. Tickets are $50 and must be purchased in advance here.

Bar Tartine Hosts “Bunny Flavor Orgy”
Join Bar Tartine chef Chris Kronner and special guest Sean Rembold, chef at Brooklyn restaurant Diner, on February 22 for a very spectacular meal featuring rabbit in many guises. The rabbits will be sourced from Devil’s Gulch Ranch and a portion of proceeds from the evening will go toward earthquake relief in Haiti. Buy tickets now for either the 6 or 9 p.m. seatings; the cost is $100 and includes paired cocktails and wine.

Alexis Koefoed of Soul Food Farm Talks Backyard Birds
Alexis Koefoed, chicken whisperer, will be teaching a glass on raising your own backyard flock. On February 23 she’ll be on hand at 18 Reasons to school you on everything you need to know to start raising your own laying hens. Tickets are $20.
