Scotch Lovers, Take Note: Tasting Tonight!


If you’ve been dying to compare Highland Park 15 to Bruichladdich peat, you’ll want to attend tonight’s scotch class and tasting at The Liberties. The event runs from 7:30-9:30 p.m. and will be led by Otis Florence. Appetizers will be served, and guests will have the opportunity to sample six different scotches over the course of the evening. Wok-pro Grace Young Signs Cookbooks at Omnivore Books, Wok Shop

Grace Young, author of Stir-frying to the Sky’s Edge: The Ultimate Guide to Mastery, will be in San Francisco for a few book signings celebrating the release of her second book. Join her on May 27 from 6-7 p.m. at Omnivore Books, or catch up with her at the Wok Shop on May 30, where she’ll be signing books from noon  until 3 p.m.

Celebrate Spring at CUESA’s Ninth Annual Breakfast


On May 29 CUESA will be hosting their annual breakfast at the Ferry Building. Your $30 ticket gets you access to the feast, including scrambled eggs with fava beans, green garlic, peas and mushrooms, blueberry pancakes, fruit, pastries and more. Dozens of restaurants are participating in Dine About Town, beginning on June 1 and continuing until June 15. Cochon 555 Finishes National Tour in San Francisco

Cochon 555’s road show concludes on June 6 here in San Francisco, where the final batch of five chefs will compete for the coveted “Prince of Porc” title. Staffan Terje (Perbacco), Anthony Strong (Pizzeria Delfina), Dennis Lee (Namu), Thomas McNaughton (Flour and Water) and Morgan Maki (Bi-Rite) will go snout to snout, each using an entire pig to create the winning gastronomic spread. Get in on the spectacle, held at the Fairmont Hotel, by purchasing a $125 ticket.
