Welcome back to our partnership with Eater. For this weekly Friday column, Eater editor Paolo Lucchesi gives his report on all the restaurant news that's fit to print, including the biggest restaurant closure of the young year, ridiculous chef lawsuits, hot new openings, dream industry gigs, and still more Mission pizza joints.

1) In a week rife with heavyweight restaurant news (i.e., Aqua's big problems, Ducca's chef shuffle), nothing caused more of a stir than Eater's breaking of the imminent closure of Jack Falstaff. Despite the considerable talents of Jonnatan Leiva, the PlumpJack Group's three-star SoMA outpost will shutter next week, becoming the most high-profile restaurant to shutter in '09 thus far. No word on Leiva's next step just yet.

2) The genius marketing ploy of the week goes to Healdsburg's Murphy-Goode Winery and its ridiculous job offer. The winery is looking for a person to live rent-free in Sonoma County while learning about wine and using social media like Twitter and Facebook to document. Oh, and for your troubles, they'll pay you $10,000 a month. To Twitter. Heavens.

3) The Mission might have more pizzerias than any other neighborhood in town (with more on the way too), but still more are en route. And—shock!—it's a chain.

4) In terms of new openings, the biggest debut of the month took place last weekend with the much-anticipated arrival of RN74, but a host of smaller projects finally reached fruition too, including Beautifull in Laurel Village, Otoro in Hayes Valley, and Fly Bar in the old Brick space.

5) This hilarious lawsuit story isn't from San Francisco, but it needs to be shared nonetheless: a Beverly Hills woman is suing Wolfgang Puck, claiming that while in the restroom at Spago, she somehow ended up doing a faceplant into "standing pools of urine and feces" on the tile floor, broke her back, hurt her knee, and experienced serious mental damage. Spago, one of the nicest restaurants in the state, isn't buying it.

6) Please don't be alarmed: Zuni Cafe has gone dark and is completely papered over, but it will return next week after some quick renovations. Breathe easily. For now.

7) Ginger's, however, shan't be returning. Kearny Street's iconic watering hole will reemerge in a few months as a completely different bar from the guys behind Bourbon & Branch, along with the name of Rick House.
