The San Francisco Zen Center has long been a leader in the organic food and cooking movement, and this weekend’s "Feasting in the Fields" event will showcase their expertise with a meal in the fields of Green Gulch Farm (cue dreamy vision of dining amid amber waves of grain). The lunch will feature veggies grown at Green Gulch with a menu crafted by Annie Somerville, Executive Chef of Greens Restaurant. Bar Agricole will provide herbal cocktails for the event. The family-friendly event will feature a tour of Green Gulch Farm and head baker Mick Sopko will be on hand for a tour of the onsite bread bakery. Tickets $175 (includes raffle entry), 12 – 3 p.m. Green Gulch Farm, 1601 Shoreline Hwy, Muir Beach.

The MELT Bus will be at the SF Giants game on a barge out in McCovey Cove (yes, you read that correctly). They will be feeding food from the MELT to the kayakers waiting for home runs and it will be the first time the MELT bus will be viewed in public. What exactly is this MELT bus, you say? Read on for more details!

The MELT will be rolling out a fleet of old-time school buses that have been retrofitted into high-tech mobile restaurants. Outfitted with a state-of-the-art mobile ordering system and proprietary high tech cooking equipment, the bus promises to deliver its full menu of great comfort food to customers, including their awesome grilled cheese melts. Customers can order online or via their smartphone, receive a QR code, and scan it at any of The MELT’s locations (bus or storefront) thus allowing them to jump the line since their order was already placed. Details and address are still under wraps.
