Foodie Agenda: Dumpling Wars, Spring Spritzers and More

Get in on the first ever Dumpling Wars dumpling-making competition in Oakland, courtesy of the Kearny Street Workshop. Seven teams of amateur chefs will battle it out to win the esteemed title of best dumpling in the galaxy. Audience members not only get to watch the battle unfold, but also sample the dumplings and enjoy a smorgasbord of other local delicacies. Though the celebrity judges will choose the winning dumpling, audience members can also vote for their favorite. Starline Social Club is hosting the second Beer and Soul night. Showcasing the finest locally brewed beers from Dying Vine and Craftsman, attendees will also be treated to some fantastic Caribbean soul food from two of the Bay Area’s best chefs. The Friends of the San Francisco Library are calling all book and jazz lovers to come and get drunk in the library this Friday – for a good cause! IMBIBE is a speakeasy-style fundraising event, featuring live music by San Franciscan Jazz outfit Broun Fellinis, a film screening by a local filmmaker, and of course free drinks and snacks provided by sponsors. It is free for members and if you aren’t a member don’t despair! Celebrate the release of the Humphry Slocombe ice cream book at Rebel this Sunday. With over 300,000 twitter followers, plenty of controversy, not to mention fantastic ice cream, Humphry Slocombe is more than your average ice cream shop. The book, a celebration of everything good about their ice cream, contains over 50 recipes.
