Learn the Secrets to Delicious French Food at Bon Marche 

Ever wanted to learn to cook like Julia Child, that is, in the French way? Well tie on your prettiest apron and head to Bon Marché Brasserie & Bar (the newly-opened restaurant/ espresso bar/ brewery/ flower mart on Market St.) for their first culinary class teaching the secrets to delicious French food. The series kicks off with Stocks, Sauces, and Soup, where Chef Matthew Sieger will be teaching a variety of classic sauces and stocks including pan sauces such as au poivre and rich veal, as well as chicken stocks and béchamel. Each event features two hours of class time, followed by a four-course, family-style lunch of the courses prepared, with optional pairings from either Wine Director Allegra Angelo or beer from Rich Higgins. // Saturday, October 24: 11am – 2pm, 1355 Market Street, $75 (optional beverage pairings: $25). Tartine + Blue Bottle Break the Silence 

Contemplating global domination? Take a leaf from two companies who know it best: Blue Bottle and Tartine. On Thursday, November 5th, Tartine’s founders Chad Robertson and Elisabeth Prueitt and Blue Bottle Coffee’s founder James Freeman will be in discussion with local writer Jessica Battilana about the artisanship behind their trades, how their shared ideals led to their recent partnership, and what the future holds. It’s the first time since the New York Times announcement of the partnership that the three of them will be in one room discussing the nuances of their new business endeavors. WARNING: You Might Run Out of Candy on Halloween 

Zombies, princesses, and superheroes descend upon the Bay Area every Halloween ready to collect their loot. Are you prepared? Brunch has just reached a new level. Head to the “Build Your Own Brunch” pop-up at this weekend for a fresh take on San Francisco's favorite meal. An assortment of grilled sourdough and housemade focaccia, along with a smorgasbord of toppings such as avocado smash, heirloom tomatoes, bacon marmalade, smoked ricotta, sous vide eggs with chile oils, and more will be available for you to mix and match in any way that you see fit. Then dig into seasonal quiche (spinach, crispy pancetta, red olive and artichoke, or peacock kale), and pair with a ramos fizz. End the meal with a cafe du monde-style beignet and iced NOLA coffee.
