Foodie Agenda: Oysterpalooza!

Foodie Agenda: Oysterpalooza!

By

Because nothing says three-day weekend like an oyster-centric jamboree.

Oysterpalooza in Valley Ford

We've been quietly obsessed with Rocker Oysterfeller's in Valley Ford for a while now—the charmingly appointed restaurant and saloon (housed in the historic Valley Ford Hotel) emobodies the best of West Sonoma county with its thoughtful, hearty fare, and equally tasty drinks. This Sunday provides the perfect excuse to take a jaunt up north to check it out for their annual Oysterpalooza!, an all-day affair with live music, barbecued oysters, Lagunitas beer, and a whole lot of Southern-inspired goodness (oyster po' boys, brisket, red beans, and Hurricanes galore!). Get tickets and details here; you'd be remiss not to take advantage of a Monday break from the grind, after all.

A Taste of Sao Paulo in Potrero Hill at Tavares

Of course, you don't need to leave San Francisco to explore new culinary horizons this weekend. Head to Tavares, the first U.S. location of the beloved Sao Paulo institution, featuring farm-to-table sensibilities with serious Brazilian attitude and flavors. The bright, inviting space is meant to evoke a neighborhood cafe-feel, and the menu is similarly approachable with dishes ranging from a half Mary's chicken with a goat cheese-laced kabocha squash puree to snapper on a banana leaf with a fresh hearts of palm salad. Don't miss the tropical French toast available at brunch, topped with pineapple, coconut, and a splash of Jack Daniels.

Sunday Brunch at ICHI Sushi + NI Bar

While you're stepping up your brunch game, plan on a visit to ICHI Sushi + NI Bar this Sunday, where they'll be serving up their brand new Japanese-style brunch. Dishes include pork miso scrambled Jidori eggs, a cold ramen salad, tamago french toast (toppes miso strawberries and kuromitsu syrup), and NI Bar's take on ramen, which features confit chicken breast and a marinated egg. You can go the more traditional route with a breakfast set featuring grilled local mackeral and miso soup, or indulge in ICHI's chirashi bowl which includes sashimi, tamago, ikura, and an optional uni add-on.
