Lowering the Bar: 5 Places to Drink For Cheap (or Free) This Week

By

Each week, we bring you our top picks for the best places to booze on the cheap in SF.

1. Cocktail College at Bar Adagio: The latest installment of Bar Adagio's Cocktail College is this Thursday, and as always, tuition is free. Ketel One vodka is the sponsor this time around, and drinkers will be able to sample a few vodka cocktails before being set loose to make two of their own. RSVP here. (Thursday, February 10, 6-8 pm, at Bar Adagio, 550 Geary St., Union Square.)

2. Noise Pop-Up-Shop Concert: Noise Pop festivities have begun, so take advantage by checking out Space Ghost, Skeletal System, Kites Sail High, and Yalls at the event's specially designed pop-up shop. Admission is only $5, and includes access to five cases of cold PBR. (Wednesday, February 9, 6-10 pm, at Noise Pop-Up Shop, 218 Fillmore St., Lower Haight.)

3. Good Vibrations Valentine's Happy Hours: If a toy or two from Good Vibrations has spiced up your relationship, they're encouraging you to celebrate with a special pair of happy hours for the holiday of love. They'll have free wine and chocolate on hand, plus plenty of good potential gifts, if you're still in the market. All four Bay Area GVs will be offering this party, so you can head to the Mission, SOMA, Polk St., or Berkeley. (Saturday, February 12, and Sunday, February 13, 5-7 pm, at all Good Vibrations locations.)

4. Desigual Launch Party: Barcelona-based fashion brand Desigual has just opened their latest outpost in Union Square. To celebrate, they're hosting a Spanish-themed launch party, with tapas, sangria, and 50% discounts on their winter items for men and women. The party runs all afternoon, making it a good stop during a lunch break or after work. RSVP here. (Thursday, February 10, 12-6 pm, at Desigual, 101 Powell St., Union Square.)
