Meet Your New Main Squeeze

Meet Your New Main Squeeze

By

After doing some serious holiday damage (oh, you know, the decorated cookies, the latkes, the holiday party buffets, the prime rib at Christmas, the rum balls), your body could probably use a break. The next big thing that seems to be hitting our fair city is a large number of fresh juice shops and stands and cleanse deliveries. Whether you’re up for a three-day cleanse, or maybe just a liquid lunch, here are five spots that will have your body giving thanks for the nutrient boost (instead of the egg nog).

Corazon Juicebar
One of the newer juice bars to open in the city is this family-run and Mexican-inspired juice bar in the Mission that features a dizzying number of options. After one of their Ultra Veggie drinks (carrot, parsley, spinach, celery, beet, cucumber, kale), you will be feeling tip-top. There are also smoothies, kombucha, and other items. Hey, keep your eyes off the desserts.

Juice Shop
Whether you are looking for a quick hit or a full-on cleanse, this juice stand is perfect for a quick pick-me-up, but there is also delivery and a pre-order service. There is a wide range of options, from Liver Green (boy, do you need it) to Beta Beet. They are all fresh pressed and use organic fruits and vegetables. Plus, the glass bottles are nicely reusable.

Juicey Lucy’s
One of the original fruit and vegetable juice businesses in SF, they got their start in 1994. Their fruits and vegetables are all organic, local, and sustainable--and they taste delicious. You can either visit their stand at one of the local and weekly farmers’ markets, or pony up for some juice delivery to your home or office. See, no excuses.

Sōw
This pop-up inside of Pause Wine Bar is open on Saturdays from 9am–2pm and Mondays from 8am–2pm. You can enjoy organic juice blends like The Prescription (apple, orange, celery, kale, mint, parsley) or a rotating seasonal flight. You can also pre-order juice for pick up or delivery through Good Eggs.
1666 Market St. at Gough

Thrive
This business is primarily structured around their cleanses, which use local fruits and vegetables that are cold pressed and hydraulically extracted. Delivery is available, or you can pick up individual juices as well (try the Fennominal Greens, with fennel, apple, cucumber, mint; Mon–Fri 8am–3pm and Sat–Sun 9am–3pm) at Nectar Wine Lounge in the Marina. One more note: You can enjoy weekend brunch (Sat–Sun 11am–3pm) at Nectar and try out the juices before committing to that three-day cleanse you’ve been hemming and hawing about.
