Four New Cafés and Coffee Spots

Four New Cafés and Coffee Spots

By

Ready to get your caffeine on? Here are four new places around town, from small indie spots to the bigger boys.

Espressamente illy

The Castro is home to the second Espressamente illy in the city, offering a variety of espresso drinks and pour-over coffee. Bonus: the baristas can also talk to you about at-home brewing techniques and this Friday, February 14th from 8am–4pm, they can show you how to make a latte art heart! The contemporary and sleek interior features a counter for quick espresso sippin’ and a fun chandelier made of espresso cups, plus there’s a café menu with some savory options like farro salad and panini. Free Wi-Fi. 2349 Market St. at Noe.

Fog Baby Cafe

The Outer Richmond has a new neighborhood spot in the former Crumbville, serving coffee from Catahoula Coffee Company, pastries and desserts from Applebaum Bakery and bagels from House of Bagels. Lunchtime brings sandwiches with local monikers like the Playland (tuna salad with melted Swiss cheese on rosemary focaccia). Oh yeah, and there’s soft-serve Straus ice cream! 3516 Balboa St. at 37th Ave.

Peets Coffee

There’s a new Peet’s in the Marina, and it’s kind of hard to miss it. This 2,500-square-foot location is actually a flagship and was designed with some of our oh-so-SF design elements, like reclaimed wood, a living wall, and industrial lighting, plus some comfortable leather chairs you can hang out in. 2080 Chestnut St. at Steiner.

Réveille Coffee

There’s now a Castro location of this local coffee shop (and truck) from brothers Tommy and Christopher Newbury. You can come by for Four Barrel coffee off their Linea La Marzocco MP machine, or pour-over coffee. There is breakfast, plus a lunch menu (tasty sandwich alert!) served through dinnertime (open until 9pm), with flatbreads, salads, and more. The new location also includes a sunny front patio, plenty of seats inside, and a fun and modern look. Free Wi-Fi. 4076 18th St. at Hartford.
