Lucky Peach magazine from McSweeney’s, the James Beard Award-winning chef behind the Momofuku David Chang, and writer Peter Meehan is having its launch party to celebrate its first issue. Starting at 7 p.m., the food quarterly will have Chang and the McSweeney’s crew at the Make-Out Room. For $10, you get a copy of Lucky Peach, free Black Star beer, and live music. A portion of the proceeds go to benefit Japanese Earthquake Relief. 3225 22nd St. (at Mission)

Bluestem Brasserie opens its dining room, made up of a main floor and mezzanine, plus outdoor seating, a bar, and lounge. Iron Chef winner Dominique Crenn of Atelier Crenn will be at Macy's Cellar Kitchen for an interview, demo, and sampling of her food, starting at 2 p.m. 170 O Farrell St. (at Stockton)
Sunday, June 26
El Buen Comer, a La Cocina startup, takes over Heart with a Mexico City-style Sunday supper from chef Isabel Caudillo, who is making from scratch guisados, chile rellenos, chipotle meatballs, from her hometown. Seating starts at 5 p.m., and $1 from every glass of wine goes to support La Cocina. 1270 Valencia (at 24th)
