This Week in Food: Super Duper Opens in FiDi, Celebrity Chef Tour, Slow Taco Night, and More
Today, June 8
FiDi folks get another burger joint today. Super Duper opens its second location, and there should be an announcement for a free burger hour on their Twitter feed and Facebook page. 721 Market St. (at Grant)
Thursday, June 9
Michelin-starred chef Mark Dommen and 2011 James Beard “Best Chef Northeast” Tony Maws of Craigie On Main will be in the One Market kitchen as part of Celebrity Chef Tour. The pork dinner begins at 7 p.m., and tickets are $150. A portion of the proceeds go to the James Beard Foundation continuing education classes, guided tastings, readings, conferences, children's programs, and scholarships. 1 Market St. (at Steuart)
Saturday, June 11
This isn't your typical church bakesale. New Taste Marketplace—a community market and fundraiser for The Food Pantry and St. Gregory Nyssa Episcopal Church—is back. The marketplace, held inside the Potrero Hill church, goes from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and features more than 30 vendors, including yeast-fermented sodas from Jesse Friedman's Soda Craft. 500 De Haro (at Mariposa)
Also, since the weather report is predicting mostly sun, it's a good day for a cruise on the bay. Liquor.com and Bowmore scotch whisky are doing a booze cruise on a luxury yacht, while serving up 12-year-old and 10-year-old Tempest single malts. After a two hour sail starting at Pier 40, the boat docks for a tasting of 18-year-old and 25-year-old bottles and bites at Epic Roasthouse. Tickets are $90.
Sunday, June 12
From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., La Victoria Bakery in the Mission kicks off its Slow Sunday taco night on the second and fourth Sunday of every month. On Luis Villavelazquez's menu is a lemongrass confit snapper taco with garlic aioli and purslancan, among others. 2937 24th St. (at Alabama)
