Whether you're actually Jewish, or just love Matzo Ball Soup, here are the best places to sit down for seder next week. 


1. Wise Sons Deli, San Francisco 

Tickets for Wise Sons' much-anticipated, annual Passover feast are already sold out, but you can still enjoy their delicious Matzo Ball Soup from the comfort of your own home. Authentic Passover catering is now available to order online on Wise Sons' website, and includes favorites like Wise Sons Gefilte Fish, Nana Brown’s Potato Kugel, and of course, Matzo Balls by the dozens. You can pick up your order all day either Monday or Tuesday. And if you're really bummed about the sit-down dinner, start planning now for next year’s festivities.

2. Perbacco, San Francisco 

Perbacco’s 7th annual Passover dinner will take place on two night this year with a special menu of traditional Jewish cooking. Culinary icon Joyce Goldstein will join Perbacco chef Staffan Terje in the kitchen to whip up a four-course meal of vibrant Italian dishes from Joyce’s book Cucina Ebraica. The robust menu includes family style antipasti like Jewish style Crispy Fried Artichoke as well as main dishes such as: Passover soup with chicken dumplings and eggs; Sea bass with rhubarb sauce; and Jewish style braised fennel among other options. Passover hazelnut sponge cake is your best best for a delicious dessert.

3. Comal, Berkeley 

Comal will once again mark the first two nights of Passover with multi-course family-style dinners in their intimate private dining room. Executive Chef Matt Gandin is featuring a unique menu of traditional Passover dishes with a Mexican twist, so expect to see beans, rice, and corn incorporated at the table. The menu includes: Tequila-cured salmon, Goat birria quesadillas, Caldo be pollo (japapeno Matzo balls), Beef adobo, Mandarin raspado for dessert, and so much more. This limited-seating dinner (only 22 spots available) is sure to sell out, so get your tickets quick!

4. Saul’s Delicatessen, Berkeley

Saul’sis offering passover dinner all week long. Get a little bit of everything with The Seder Plate, which includes Roasted lamb bone; Egg; Matzo; Saul’s horseradish; Parsley; and Ashkenazi apple walnut charoset. The traditional dinner menu is also filled with choices; decide between Gefilte fish, chicken soup, chopped liver, pureed beet, or roasted walnut ‘liver’ to start and then choose either Marin Sun Farms braised brisket, packed salmon salsa verde, or long cooked chard with roasted spring leek for the main course. The meal ends with macaroons and sponge cake with berry sauce for dessert. As a special bonus, you’ll get to hear the story of the Hebrew revolt at any of the week's seders. On Saturday night, however, Saul's really ups the ante with a specially prepared Passover meal paired with Broadway show tunes fit to new lyrics that tell the old Jewish tale. If you want to enjoy seder in your PJs you can also order Passover-to-go (at least 36 hours in advance) from their online menu.

5. The Pasta Shop, Oakland 

This year it’s all about hosting your own Passover with yet another option for take out in Oakland. The Pasta Shop in the Rockridge Mall has an online Passover menu available for pickup Friday - Tuesday with yummy dishes like charoset, slow-cooked brisket, Morrocan chicken in sweet and spicy tomato sauce, and a variety of gluten-free desserts.

6. Baker and Banker, San Francisco  

On Monday, April 14 Baker and Banker in Lower Pac. Heights will also be serving a special Passover prix fixe menu that includes: Jeff’s matzo ball soup, braised brisket with spring vegetables, and chocolate truffle cake for dessert. The regular menu will also be available to supplement to get cozy and prepare for the long haul.
