On May 25 Beretta kicks off its guest bartending series with a special appearance by Brooke Arthur, who will oversee the bar program at the soon-to-open restaurant Prospect. Stop by between 5:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. for a taste of three cocktails that will debut on the menu at the new restaurant.
Gardening Without a Garden
If your back forty is limited to a balcony or tiny backyard but you still want to exercise your green thumb, head to the “edible gardening for the space-starved” class at 18 Reasons on May 25. Two expert instructors will teach you the ins and outs of container gardening, and there will be organic garden starter kits ($32) and seedings ($6) available for purchase so you can get started on your own garden right away.
Celebrate the Microhood of FolSoMa
FolSoMa, a microhood identified as Folsom street between 7th and 8th, will play host to a party hosted by The Bold Italic on May 25. At Bloodhood, sip special cocktails made with Bulleitt Bourbon. Head down the block for a complimentary beer (while supplies last) on the back patio of Triptych. City Beer Store will also a $5 tasting flights of their favorites, while Adobo Hobo and Bike Basket Pies will provide snacks. Duck into Sightglass Coffee for some geekery, and end the evening by watching a “guerilla street performance” by Hubba Hubba Revue. Best of all, the event is free, but you MUST RSVP.
Get your Arepa on at Pica Pica Maize Kitchen
Finally, something to give Little Star a run for its money. Pica Pica just opened directly across the street (Valencia at 15th) and is serving Venezuelan food, including arepas, fried yucca and tilapia-filled empanadas. This is the first San Francisco location of the restaurant—the original is at Napa’s Oxbox Market. Stop in for a taste!
