Urban Food Foraging
This Sunday, September 19, lace up your walking shoes and prepare for some urban gleaning. 18 Reasons, together with the AIA, Forage Oakland, Neighborhood Fruit and FARM, is leading a food foraging tour. You'll visit (and harvest from) 3-4 different sites, then return to 18 Reasons for a light lunch and a tasting of (legally) pilfered produce. The tour runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and tickets cost $10 for members of the AIA or 18 Reasons, $20 for the general public.

A Special Dinner at Outerlands
Photographer and cook Eric Wolfinger will be preparing a special dinner at Outerlands on September 20 to benefit Mari-Med, an organization that brings health care training and aid to Haiti. Wolfinger (who most recently collaborated with Chad Robertson of Tartine on his forthcoming book, Tartine Bread) will be serving a five-course meal with wine pairings, each course inspired by a different place he's traveled. The dinner is $125 (all tax deductible) and reservations can be made by emailing Eric at email@example.com.
K+L Wines Personal Sommelier Service
Imagine a wine club where you pick the regions, the grapes, and the bottle price, and then a wine pro custom selects wines to meet your specs. K+L Wines just launched their new wine club based on these principles. Plus, you can choose any staff member to manage your subscription, and feedback and correspondence between you and your wine guru is encouraged! Best of all, you're not locked in to your original specs, so your monthly bottles can evolve with your burgeoning good taste. Can someone please give this to me as a gift? It's genius!
