The documentary follows three French pastry chefs on their journey to try and win an award from the Meilleurs Ouvriers de France (a very high distinction). Thrills! Spills! Chocolate! Sugar! The movie opens tonight at the Balboa.

A Vegetarian Thanksgiving How-To
Erik Gower, who authors the Chronicle column Breakaway Cook, will be at Macy's in Union Square on November 20 at 2 p.m., serving up a free demonstration on how to make the perfect, crowd-pleasing vegetarian Thanksgiving, without the aid of Tofurkey. The event is free.

Pisco Tasting at 18 Reasons
One way to complete your holiday table? With a giant punch bowl filled with Pisco Punch. On November 19th at 18 Reasons, sample your way through a range of fiery piscos, then learn how to pair pisco cocktails with snacks and how to whip up a seasonal pisco punch, sure to delight your Thanksgiving compatriots. The cost is $15 for the general public (which includes food and drink) and is drop-in from 7-9 p.m.
