Electronica Beat: Four Parties to Hit Up This August

Electronica Beat: Four Parties to Hit Up This August

By

Summer is finally starting to heat up, culminating with that elaborate camp-out in Nevada at the end of the month (ahem, Burning Man). Even if you aren't preparing to get dusty, there's still a bunch of fun nights and days in store, including a sexy pool party, an Australian-style tornado, and the two-year birthday celebration of the infamous As You Like It crew.

Known for their sultry rooftop parties at The Standard in LA, Droog returns to SF for a dope night at the good old EndUp. I've been digging these guys since they released Accidental in 2011 on Crosstown Rebels with Inxec, who will also be sharing the decks with them. The Culprit Showcase will also feature the return of Clovis for a super sick night that will undoubtably spill into an amazing morning. Supporting them will be WERD residents Kevin Knapp, Nick Williams and Brandon Wade. Lace up your sneakers and drop in on this one on August 3.

The Phoenix Hotel has recently been hosting a new Sunday afternoon party dubbed Hotel California out on their patio alongside the pool. With 500-plus people attending the last two, this monthly party has quickly developed an eclectic following. This month it will feature hometown heavy hitters Adnan, Anthony Mansfield and Om Records founder Chris Smith, a.k.a. Shiny Objects. The all-day affair will also include sets from Solar, Sleazemore, Bo and Rooz. If you're looking for a new monthly party filled with good vibes, sunshine and great tunes, then check yourself into the Hotel California on August 5.

There's a Tornado headed toward San Francisco, and it's set to touch down at Public Works later this month. Tornado Wallace will bring deep and slow flows of beats to the masses on his debut trip to the city. This versatile producer from Melbourne, Australia has been behind the decks since he was a teenager, conjuring up a blend of disco, house and techno. Supporting Tornado Wallace will be hometown homies Bells & Whistles. If you caught their set at the Sunset Campout earlier this month then you know what's in store: Fresh beats, and smooth and punchy vibes. Sound the alarm, because this night is sure to spiral out of control on August 11.

Has it really been two years since Jeremy Bispo launched As You Like It? What began as a string of renegade nights has transformed into one of the true staples of local nightlife. He and the crew have been on a rampage, bringing a wide-range of global acts for all you high-brow ravers. This month at the In The Clouds party we'll celebrate their two-year anniversary with equally anticipated sets from MK and The Revenge. With additional live sets from Dave Aju and groovers from Brian Bejarano, Mossmoss and Mark Slee, this is one birthday party not to be missed on August 18.
