I just got back from a four-night trip to NYC. Although I was there with Joe for his birthday, it just so happened that the Beard Awards were last night. The Twitter board was jumping with SF chefs tweeting about their flights out to NYC (Coi's Daniel Patterson is apparently no longer a virgin on Virgin America).

Chef Eric Ripert of New York's famous Le Bernardin will make his first SF appearance at Aqua for a special dinner on April 20. It will cost you a pretty penny, but think of it this way—the short trip will save you a flight to the East Coast. Make your reservation sooner rather than later.

Nice guy chef Eric Ripert (otherwise known as best friends with Laurent Manrique).

Chef Eric Ripert of NYC’s Le Bernardin was in town last week to promote his excellent new cookbook, On The Line (Artisan). Co-authored by Christine Muhlke, it’s a look behind the scenes (danger, drama!) at one of the country’s most revered fine-dining restaurants. Twenty years into it, Ripert has a lot to say.

Chef Eric “the ripper” Ripert, of New York’s famed Le Bernadin restaurant, will be in town for a one-day-only promotion of his new cookbook, On the Line. Join him at a book signing at Omnivore Books.
