1228 Takes a Golden Bite Out of Fall

By

Local jewelry line 1228, designed by Nico Lopez, has garnered massive accolades - Bat for Lashes' Natasha Khan and Adam Lambert have all been spotted wearing pieces - for its femme-meets-punky aesthetic since its inception in 2007. And while we wish we could own everything from the latest collection, we're willing to settle with a cult fave, Lopez's 24 karat gold tooth necklace. Daring and decadent? Yes, please.

This isn't your average run-of-the-mill tooth shaped necklace. Each piece is actually a Megalodon fossil ranging from 6 to11 million years old. How's that for vintage? We plan on pairing this stand-out piece, juxtaposed with a delicate gold chain, with a shrunken cableknit sweater and high-waisted trousers for the perfect Fall ensemble. Each necklace retails for $225 and comes in two lengths: long (tooth hits at ribcage) and short (tooth hits at collarbone). Contact Lopez at orders@twelvetwentyeight.com for your very own toothy confection.
