Collective Opens on Valencia's Vintage Corridor

By

Fans of vintage and reconstructed vintage will want to check out just-opened Mission boutique Collective, headed up by Taxi CDC’s Deborah Brosenne.

We stopped by over the weekend to find racks hung with affordably-priced vintage (we scored a gorgeous 80’s-era emerald green knit dress with a gold chain belt for $25), Taxi CDC’s reconstructed dresses and tops, among them fitted three-quarter-length plaid shirts and cropped Members Only jackets, as well as an enviable selection of well-priced vintage boots, beer holsters by the Brew Holster Cult, jewelry by Nous Savons and Ofina, women’s apparel by Label NYC, colorful circle scarves made by Indie Mart founder Kelly Malone and accessories by the Feathered Leopard. For the guys, vintage sweaters and button-down shirts await.

With chandeliers hanging overhead and a jewelry case artfully decorated with tree limb silhouettes, you’d never guess the space came together in the span of 48 hours.

“We built it in two days,” says Kelly Malone, who put her seasoned D.I.Y. skills to work to help Brosenne launch the shop.

Looking for an excuse to stop by? On Dec. 21 and 22, the shop will be offering custom redesigns on garments and vintage items shoppers bring into the store.

Collective, 1453 Valencia St. (at 25th). Hours: Wed-Sat 12-8 p.m., Sun 12-6 p.m.
