Weather wise, it’s not quite summer yet for San Franciscans. While we’re shedding our layers when late August finally brings the heat, the rest of the world, it seems, is moving on to fall and beyond. Even while dreaming of lazy days at Baker Beach and music festivals in the park, I try to keep up by creating a mental list of gift ideas for when the holidays inevitably come crashing in. Enter: Teens Turning Green skin-care line, for that teenage girl in everyone’s lives.

Available at Whole Foods Market in October, the Bay Area-based advocacy group Teens for Safe Cosmetics is launching the new line in partnership with such better-known holistic and eco-friendly companies as EO and Astara in creating the chemical-free, sustainable and fair-trade products chalk full of deliciously scented essential oils. Made for teenage skin, the line addresses all those embarrassing hormonal setbacks with products like the olive oil-based Pomegranate Blemish cleansing bar and the aluminum and paraben-free Terra Sport deodorant.

But my favorite—and one you can steal for yourself—is the Organic Rosemary and Mint Hand Sanitizing Spray. Tiny enough to slip into your pocket or your purse, this sleek little spray kills germs naturally while the rosemary, peppermint and lemon essential oils leave hands smelling heavenly, moisturized and non-sticky to boot. Added bonus? It makes a great stocking stuffer if you do decide to share.
