It feels like September again, what with all the balls and galas happening around town. Thankfully, those on the hunt for that made-to-measure gown can turn to couture designer Colleen Quen, who’s at it again in her SoMa atelier. A departure from her previous floral and butterfly design motifs, the latest inspiration for her colorful, architectural collection comes from her travels with SF designer Jude Gabbard this past November to rural villages in the Guizhou province of China. This Thursday, check out Quen’s new designs on display at the Mark Wolfe Contemporary Art Gallery from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and get a sneak preview of D3 Productions’ soon-to-be-released PBS documentary Interpreting Ancient Fashion about Quen’s recent artistic journey to the Far East.
