Shoe Shopping with Adam Moon

By

Yesterday I had the chance to sit down with Adam Moon, fashion director for women’s accessories at Macy’s, who dished on everything from his obsession with white Converse sneakers to his airline travel must-reads (US Weekly, People, anyone?). I was interviewing the Noe Valley resident for our annual Style Council feature (look out for him and seven other local style makers profiled in our September fashion issue), and as an added bonus the two of us took a stroll afterward through the department store’s massive women’s shoe floor so he could give me the first-hand scoop on the must-have styles for fall. We’re in that dreamy in-between-seasons phase, Moon notes, where you can still grab a pair of gladiator sandals (on sale, no less!) as retailers are starting to clear out summer stock and get the fresh pick of the fall shoe litter. Here are three trends you’ll want to invest in for the upcoming season.

Black oxford lace-ups are here to stay, Moon says, but with updates in detailing such as banding, cut-outs and peep-toes. Vince Camuto Fanny Oxfords, $125, at Macy’s or macys.com

Hippie chick is back again, especially in the form of fringe on footwear, Moon says. Colored fringe is especially huge for fall. Betseyville by Betsey Johnson Juleana Wedge, $155, at Macy’s or macys.com

You simply can’t go wrong with a sexy pump, Moon says. This classic style never really went away, but designers are focusing on this classic shape next season.  Michael Michael Kors Beekman pump, $109, at Macy’s or macys.com
