Sneak-A-Freak

LA-based streetwear company The Hundreds has quite the following (see photos taken from the store’s opening day in the TenderNob yesterday, by yours truly). From 10 a.m. until early evening, a long line could be spotted down the block — crowds of sneaker heads dressed in Huf hats and Nike Air Jordan’s — waiting to enter the shop that managed to stir up an air of mystery with its black paper-covered windows and its steel doors guarded by employees.

So, what’s all the fuss about? Devotees staked out the joint for its limited edition graphic tees (some of which were SF-exclusives made in collaboration with the Hieroglyphics team), contrasting color-stitched denim and embroidered hats decorated with the label’s signature cartoonish bomb logo. It just goes to show that despite the typical NorCal versus SoCal rivalry, this brand, inspired by L.A.’s skate and hip hop culture, can still pull in a serious Bay Area fan base.
