Wing Women: Two Birds Opens in Noe Valley
Inside Two Birds, which recently came to roost in Noe Valley
You might say that Noe Valley’s shopping drag is benefitting from a touch of winged migration.
After four years as buyers for HeidiSays in Pacific Heights, friends and business partners Susanna Taylor and Audrey Yang left the nest earlier this year to launch a boutique of their own. The result is Two Birds, whose lemon-hued interiors house a chic coterie of contemporary apparel and accessories from labels such as Haute Hippie, Elizabeth & James, Joie, Parker and locals that include Ali Golden and Amour Vert.
“Given our past experience, we feel like we have really gotten to know and love the San Francisco woman and her eclectic style, so we are trying to blend, contemporary, local, and sustainable offerings so we can appeal to everyone in this glorious city,” Taylor says.
Named after the British slang for “girls,” the shop notably stocks only jewelry by local designers, including Kathy Kamei, Jennifer Tuton and M. Stone. There’s also a solid selection of premium denim from brands such as Mother, JBrand, Citizens of Humanity, Hudson and AG. Handbags on offer hail from Rebecca Minkoff, Sequoia and Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent
The well-edited retail area in front gives way to a raised lounge and dressing rooms in back that the owners hope will inspire shoppers to have fun with the try-on experience.
Says Taylor:
“We constructed the fitting rooms in the loft next to a sitting area so we can all hang out and play dress up.”
