'Tis the season of summer block parties, and bringing the festivities to the top of the hill is Lombardi Sports, who, along with Timbuk2, brings us the Best of Polk Block Party on June 18. Come with an empty stomach — food from Leopold's, La Boulange, Loving Cup, and Real Food Company, plus refreshments from everyone's favorite Russian Hill liquor store, The Jug Shop, will fill you up on this Saturday shakedown.
Of course, a block party wouldn't be a block party without music. Anju's Pale Blue Eyes, Trisha Hall, Nico Rimbaud, Danielle Oliver and Benjamin Brown will be bringing the tunes for a little bit of dancing in the streets. And the Best of Polk raffle is not to be missed. They'll be giving away hand-painted Timbuk2 bags by local artist Kurt Dalen and even more goodies.
The event is free, but you must RSVP to attend. All proceeds go to R.O.C.K. (Real Options for City Kids), an organization dedicated to enriching in-school and afterschool programs for kids.
