Scenes of the City: China Beach

For this week's Scenes of the City we headed out to China Beach, a small cove in San Francisco's Sea Cliff neighborhood. This perfect pocket of sand features a picnic area, ample room for sunbathing, and on a clear day, great views of the Marin Headlands and Golden Gate Bridge.

The beach's name comes from an old legend that Chinese fishermen used to anchor their ships in the cove and camp on the beach.

China Beach can be a bit hard to find, but the roads are well signed; just follow the "Public Beach" signs through Sea Cliff. Here's a map too, just in case. As a special treat, try to visit during low tide to get around the headlands and discover the tide pools.
