Where to Watch the World Cup (or Just Cristiano Ronaldo) in the Bay Area

By

Whether you're rooting for your favorite team or just hoping that Cristiano Ronaldo (or anyone, for that matter) will take off his shirt after scoring a goal, here are the best places to catch a match in the Bay Area, and get caught up in the FIFA madness.

Mad Dog In The Fog

According to their website, “Opening times will vary depending on soccer game times.” Needless to say, this bar means business. Thankfully, they serve breakfast. Opt for The Greedy Bastard: English bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, baked beans, tomatoes, and toast to wash down that 7:00am Guinness. 530 Haight St

Lucky Strike

As part of Lucky Strike's Burger of the Month series, the bowling hot spot is honoring FIFA with The Brazilian Burger – a juicy half pound, all-beef burger, topped with cheddar cheese, a fried egg, crispy bacon, sweet corn, lettuce, tomato, sweet onion, and Brazilian potato sticks, with mayonnaise and ketchup – for the month of June. Created by Valerio Bessa, a native of Brazil and chef at Lucky Strike Boston, this burger will be sold until June 30. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Conquer Cancer Coalition. 200 King St.

The Napper Tandy

This Irish pub is all about futbol, and has enough TVs around the bar to show that they're serious. Come here if you want to interact with other diehards while you gulp down a beer and chow down on bar grub. Plus, it's one of the few purveyors of the full Irish Breakfast (basically two of every animal you can think of) around town. Yum! 3200 24th St.

Go Bar

Smack dab in the middle of Old Town Oakland, Go Bar is the Town's premiere sports bar. The space is a little small, and can get pretty cramped, so arrive early if you want a prime spot in front one of the six TVs that surround the bar. Order up a shot of the day (which is almost always Jameson) for $5 and opt for the chicken tacos – they have a nice kick that will put you in the mood for game day. Happy hour is from 4:00 - 7:00pm 736 Washington Street, Oakland

Kezar Pub

A longtime Haight favorite for serious sports fans, Kezar has over 20 beers on draft including a smattering of local brews. Most seats in the bar have good vantage point, and the pub's website has a very thorough viewing schedule. 770 Stanyan Street. 770 Stanyan St.

Adesso

Adesso is upping the ante, offering not only special hours to screen all 64 games (yes, all of them) but a special lunch menu to sustain you through the next month and daily drink specials based on the countries playing each day. Learn how to say "cheers" in every language! 4395 Piedmont Ave, Oakland
