World-Class BMX, Motocross and Skateboarders Converge on City Hall This Weekend

City Hall has been transformed. Not necessarily the institution, but certainly the lawn—at least through this weekend. The extreme sports event Dew Tour just rolled into town and turned Civic Center Plaza into a big-tricks BMX dirt track and epic skate park playground.

Starting this afternoon and running through Sunday, some of the best athletes in the world will converge on City Hall—and then proceed to tear it up! Extreme sports gods like Ryan Nyquist and Paul Rodriguez (both California natives) will be among the competitors performing big air tricks against the backdrop of City Hall.

The competitions start this afternoon and run through Sunday. The big draws will be this weekend for the finals, but you’ll see some really sweet action starting today. On Sunday, Harrison Street will become the venue for an epic Streetstyle skate battle. The four-day festival is free, but be sure to get there early to get a good view of the finals.

If the big jumps and ollies aren’t enough to lure you there, maybe the music will be. Friday night features a nice Indy lineup of Portugal. The Man and Reptar. And on Saturday, Lil Wayne is set to make an appearance. Yup, turns out he’s a big skate fan.

It’s going to be hot and sunny today, so why not take a nice long lunch break at City Hall? The tour runs through Sunday, with back-to-back skate, BMX and free style motocross events. Enjoy playing hooky tomorrow.
