World Series tickets are going for upwards of $500 for standing room only. Bleachers? $900.
You can get a prime seat in McCovey Cove for less than $100, but it involves kayaking. We're sure it'll be crowded in those waters, but it's certainly an appropriately San Francisco way to take in our first World Series in 8 years.
Sea Trek Kayaking, which normally operates out of Sausalito, is launching from the UCSF Boathouse at Mission Creek Park at 4:00 pm on game day. There's a fleet of 30 kayaks for the renting, but better hurry, someone's already called from as far as Nebraska to reserve one. They'll provide the boats, the gear, the boom box and someone who knows what they're doing in a kayak. You bring dinner, your glove and thermos of hot drinks. Cost? $95 per person. Info here.
City Kayaks launches from South Beach Harbor on Wednesday at 3:30 for a quick lesson and briefing before game time. Single person kayaks are around $87 each and doubles are $137. Info here.
True, kayaking may not be as awesome as being inside the yard, but it's a close second for the chance to catch a splasher from Aubrey Huff.
