Well, it looks like the rain finally found us. No worries. Just because it’s raining doesn’t mean you have to hang up your bike, and wait for the next ray of sunlight. Biking in the rain can actually be pretty great. Full disclosure: I lived in Seattle for 10 years and pedaled my way through many a rainy day. But, honestly, riding in the rain can be fun.
The days may be longer, but spring is not officially sprung until March 20. The San Francisco Bay Area never minds that and kicks off celebratory nature events early. From high art floral installations to educational eco-gardening to Brazil, this spring will surely be another beautiful one.
Cheese lovers, get your taste buds ready and your bikes tuned, because this Saturday is the Tour du Fromage, a bike ride to San Francisco’s finest independent cheese spots. Join Other Avenues Co-op Cheesemonger, JB Rumburg, as he takes you on an exploration of our city’s fromage frontier.
Cycling fans will be happy to know that the Amgen Tour of California is returning to San Francisco this year. Tour leaders released the map earlier this week, and San Francisco holds the second stage spot, meaning that on May 14 the peloton will be screaming its way through our city—albeit briefly—en route to Aptos.
