Marvel at the creative genius of Miles Davis at Art of Cool in Yountville

"A painting is music you can see, and music is a painting you can hear"– Miles Davis

Known as one of the greatest, most influential jazz musicians of all time, Miles Davis was also an acclaimed artist.  In the first US exhibition of his artwork, the Napa Valley Museum and the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at Lincoln Theater present “Miles Davis: The Art of Cool” (June 8-July 28) featuring 35 of the artist’s original sketches and oil paintings. The exhibit, sponsored by Miner Family Winery, is accompanied by special events and programs that celebrate the life and music of this iconic figure whose album Kind of Blue is still the best-selling jazz album of all time. On display at both the museum and Lincoln Theater down the road. Buy tickets at the museum: Free for members, $10 non-members. Museum hours are Tuesday-Sunday, 10 am to 4 pm, 55 Presidents Circle, Yountville

A VIP and Members Only reception takes place at the museum on June 7 between 5 and 8 pm with wine, hors d’oeuvres and lots of live jazz. Tickets $15 for members, $30 for non-members. Annual membership is $45 per person or, through June 30, $50 per family (usually $75). Check out the website to make reservations and get more details on the full line-up of Miles Davis special programs and events, including guided tours and a special tribute concert at Lincoln Theater.
