Bocanova Supper Club

This month's Supper Club kicks off the Cinco de Mayo celebrations with an all-Mexican inspired menu at Bocanova. Enjoy a 4-course, family-style dinner paired with wine from the Bocanova wine cellar, hand-selected by GM and Sommelier, Gerardo Acevedo. The menu includes: Albondigas with mushrooms, and guajillo chiles; Squash Blossom Soup with spring onion, English peas, and chiles; Huachinago Veracruz Style with pickled jalapenos, capers, green olives, and tomato; Mussel & Yucca Tamal with cilantro; Slow Roasted Chile Rubbed Pork Leg with salsa borracha; Stewed Black Beans with chipotle, and tomato; Seasonal Vegetables with chileajo sauce; House-made Tortillas; and Baked Rice Pudding with tropical fruit. Oh man.

The Cheesemonger's Seasons 

Complete your week with a midday cheese moment at MARCH, featuring a pop-up cheese shop from Gourmet and More. Renowned cheesemaker Chester Hastings will also be on hand to sign copies of his new book.

Spring 2 Summer Dinner with Spoonbar and Copain Winery 

Spoonbar Chef Louis Maldonado will join forces with his former cast mate from Top Chef Season 11, Jason Cichonski, to create an intimate six-course meal at Copain Winery this weekend. With a shared passion for using the freshest seasonal ingredients, Maldonado and Cichonski will create dishes that spotlight the overlap of the spring and summer growing seasons, incorporating ingredients such as ramps, fava beans, wild mushrooms and green garlic into the menu. The six-course meal includes: Radish, ramps, and bonito bone marrow butter; Smoked trout melt on toasted brioche with trout roe; Mini pumpernickel pita with fava bean hummus, and big fin squid with spring onion vinaigrette and radish; Barely-cured hiramasa, passion fruit, and peas with fresh wasabi; Diver scallop noodles, spring pesto, and breadcrumbs; Roast quail, salted cherry blossom, fennel, and sweet turnips; Roasted pork jowl, black sesame, asparagus, and spaetzle; Aged and smoked beef eye of the rib, aromatic bouillon, green garlic, and hen of the woods mushrooms; Bohemian Creamery’s Bodacious Cheese, baby vegetables, greens and berries. All dishes will be paired with a variety of Copain wines.

 Nick's Pizza's Birthday Meal 

Start your week off right with free pizza. Chef Nick Yapor-Cox and his crew will host a Community Meal in honor of Nick's Pizza's second anniversary this Monday. Those familiar with the Oakland-style pizzeria's seasonal community meals know that they include free pizza, salads, and homemade beverages like Swanton Strawberry Lemonade. BYO cups and plates if possible.

Dinner and a Concert at City Winery Napa

Great food, wine, and music come together in a unique venue at City Winery Napa. This week, owner Michael Dorf will be hosting a special dinner followed by a concert by Grammy-winners Asleep at the Wheel. Best of all? A shuttle will take you from San Francisco to Napa and back for this exclusive evening.

Cooking Demos in a Pac Heights Mansion 

From May 7 to 11, Whirlpool and House Beautiful will be hosting an interactive cooking demonstration series at the San Francisco Decorator Showcase with five of the Bay area’s most celebrated and innovative chefs, allowing consumers to learn from the industry’s best including: Francis Hogan of Bluestem Brasserie (May 7), Thomas McNaughton of Flour + Water (May 8), Robin Song of Hog & Rocks (May 9), and Ryan Pollnow of Central Kitchen (May 10). Learn about Whirlpool’s Black Ice Collection suite of appliances, plus get new recipes and cooking trends and tips.
