If you feel the rhythm in your feet and get the sudden urge to Samba, Salsa or do the Calypso, then you had best come down to the 34th SF Carnaval. Apart from 3 stages of continuous live music, there will also be art and craft vendors as well as an abundance of amazing food carts. Beer gardens will also be set up along Harrison Street to quench the thirst of happy revellers. This is a family friendly event, so bring along the whole family and watch the grand parade while chowing down on some of SF’s finest street food. Harrison Street between 16th and 22nd Streets

In commemoration of the Golden Gate Bridge’s 75th birthday, The Presidio Trust and the Walt Disney Family Museum are presenting, ”The Bridge on the Big Screen” - films featuring the Golden Gate Bridge. Bring along a blanket or low lawn chair and enjoy the new Main Post Green while watching, " It Came from Beneath the Sea". There will be plenty of food choices available from the Off the Grid Food Trucks and Disney Café. Live music provided by the Presidio Bowling Center. Monday, May 28

Grab some free flowing Hawaiian dress, practise your Hula, and make your way down to Baker Beach for the Memorial Day luau. The day kicks off with a Hawaiian style opening at midday and before a whole, organic pig is cooked Imu-style (underground!). There will also be a range of sweets and other foods available - but you have to BYO alcohol. The day costs $50 and all proceeds go to school building projects in Central America. Baker Beach, SF

Ravi Kapur's popular pop-up at Citizen's Band, LihoLiho Yacht Club, ends this Monday. The menu, a delicious fusion of Asian, Hawaiian and Californian cuisine, is all created with local seasonal produce. There are only a few walk-ins accepted each night so you will want to reserve your seat in advance. Dinner is served from 5:30 until 10:30 and costs $65 per person including tax and gratuity, but doesn’t include beer or wine. 1198 Folsom Street

Vegans rejoice! Noisebridge is hosting a casual workshop-style food hacking event that every month takes a new dish (like ravioli, corn dogs or even twinkees) and explores how to creatively make a tasty vegan version. This week participants will learn how to make vegan fries and dip. It is free but RSVP is required. Come relive those comforting days spent in fast food joints at the mall or the snack shack on the beach - only without all the sketchy ingredients and animal products. City Slicker Farms in Oakland aims to get low-income communities equal access to fresh, healthy, organic food through programs such as farmers markets, backyard gardens and urban farming education programs. This Thursday, Oakland’s urban farming experts, Novella Carpenter and Willow Rosenthal are presenting their new book, The Essential Urban Farmer. There evening will include delectable bites from a local chef as well as beer from the New Belgium Brewing company. It is free event, so come along ask the authors any pressing farming questions you may have, and mingle with fellow Bay Area farmers.  All proceeds from book and food sales will go to support City Slicker Farms and its food justice efforts in West Oakland. First Unitarian Church of Oakland (685 14th Street, Oakland).
