The Del Popolo pizza truck will be participating in PARK(ing) Day today, a worldwide event where artists, designers and citizens temporarily occupy metered parking spaces. They’ll be dishing out pizzas in the Financial District. 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Hop over to where the sun will probably be shining for Oakland’s Eat Real Fest. Starting, like, right now and continuing through the whole weekend (until the last keg is kicked on Sunday), this is your chance to indulge in all-you-can-eat-meat, 60 street food vendors, cooking demos, live entertainment, and loads of booze. San Francisco residents love an open air party (fog be gone!) and Alt:Pod is the newest curated space to host one. This weekend’s event provides a glimpse into the future of mobile vending with fashion trucks (Topshelf Boutique, Jasy B), SF’s first beauty truck (Pretty Parlor a GoGo), a skeeball trailer and, of course, a yet-to-be-announced food truck. Brewtruc will collaborate with Churchill to pour delicious local craft beer. Tunes provided by the M.O.M. DJs. No cover, $5 pints, 1-6 p.m., 160 Church Street.
Plate by Plate, a fundraiser for Project by Project, is back for another year—and bigger then ever as this celebration marks the 15th anniversary of the national nonprofit. The annual tasting benefit focuses on raising public awareness for issues related to the Asian American community. This year’s Plate by Plate will feature bites from over 25 different acclaimed San Francisco restaurants including Chaya Brasserie, 25 Lusk, and Piperade. Wash down the nosh with wine poured by sommeliers from top California wineries as you mix and mingle with the rest of the city’s philanthropists and bid on an extensive silent auction. Nojo SF has partnered with San Francisco farm-to-bottle brewer, Almanac Beer Co. for one special evening to showcase the unique pairings of farm-to-table Japanese cuisine with farm-to-bottle craft beers. The five-course menu will include dishes typically not seen on Nojo’s regular daily and Almanac will be pouring select special edition releases. Guests will have the opportunity to meet Nojo SF Executive Chef and Almanac's co-founders. $75 per person, reserve here, 5:30 – 10 p.m. 231 Franklin St.
