Celebrate Food Day, a nationwide movement that promotes healthy living and sustainable food at the two-day Harvest Festival at the Ferry building this weekend. On Saturday from 10 am-1 pm, learn about the food system and participate in harvest-themed activities for all ages by making your own pickle, pressing apple cider, and previewing cooking demos. Drop by this year’s Hallowtoberfest and enjoy some sacrificial lamb grilled over mesquite prepared by Stag Dining group chefs Ted Fleury and Jordan Grosser. Dance to the beats of DJs Timoteo Gigante, Karlo, and RyeToast while enjoying craft beer from Speakeasy, Anderson Valley, Iron Springs, and Ale Industries served by brewtruc. In addition, a couple of local start-ups such as Orukayak, the origami kayak, and TopShelf Boutique, a clothes truck, will be featured at the event. RN74 will celebrate with a special Happy Hour Menu offered from 4 pm-8 pm, consisting of $1 Oysters, French pastries, popcorn and sweet treats, along with $4 Pumpkin Beer and eerie cocktails for $7 each. Live entertainment such as a Tarot Card Reader, Fortune Teller and of course, a DJ will make the celebration all the more festive.
