Celebrate Food Day, a nationwide movement that promotes healthy living and sustainable food at the two-day Harvest Festival at the Ferry building this weekend. On Saturday from 10 am-1 pm, learn about the food system and participate in harvest-themed activities for all ages by making your own pickle, pressing apple cider, and previewing cooking demos. On Sunday from 11 am-2 pm, decorate pumpkins, participate in different olive oil and honey tastings, and jive to the beat of live music by Jackie Jones and gypsy jazz ensemble Golden Gate Hot Club. 10 am-1 pm, Saturday, 11 am-2 pm Sunday, 1 Sausalito - Ferry Building Marketplace

Drop by this year’s Hallowtoberfest and enjoy some sacrificial lamb grilled over mesquite prepared by Stag Dining group chefs Ted Fleury and Jordan Grosser. Dance to the beats of DJs Timoteo Gigante, Karlo, and RyeToast while enjoying craft beer from Speakeasy, Anderson Valley, Iron Springs, and Ale Industries served by brewtruc. In addition, a couple of local start-ups such as Orukayak, the origami kayak, and TopShelf Boutique, a clothes truck, will be featured at the event. To gain free admission, buy a beer or food ticket in advance, otherwise, there's a five-dollar cover for the event. During Alton's “Ten Things About Food I Feel Pretty Sure About,” be prepared to both learn and laugh as he discusses the science of American food today and how you can create your own home kitchen experiments for healthy meals. Cheer on the SF Giants as they head into game three of the World Series at any number of the great happy hour specials throughout the city. Try the Orange & Black ($10; tequila, Cointreau, house-made spiced syrup, fresh squeezed lime, dash of mezcal, and black sea salt rim] and nosh on ballpark favorites like Butter Pretzel Bites served with Five-Cheese Fondue ($7.5) while watching the game on Bluestem’s high-def TVs in the lounge. Try out the last Picnic at the Presidio this Sunday and grab a whole roasted salmon lunch, including sides, for $10. The lunch is provided by I Love Blue Sea and The Whole Beast in honor of Maria Finn’s ebook “The Whole Fish, How Adventurous Eating Can Improve Your Sex Life and Help Save the Ocean. What better way to celebrate Halloween than with a spooky blowout bash? RN74 will celebrate with a special Happy Hour Menu offered from 4 pm-8 pm, consisting of $1 Oysters, French pastries, popcorn and sweet treats, along with $4 Pumpkin Beer and eerie cocktails for $7 each. Live entertainment such as a Tarot Card Reader, Fortune Teller and of course, a DJ will make the celebration all the more festive. No cover charge and guests who come in costume will receive one free drink ticket for a special Halloween cocktail and will be eligible to win a gift certificate for two at RN74. Get gory with luella this Halloween and try their Blood, Bones and Flesh! For $16.66, you can order a glass of Steel Wines Zinfandel paired with luella's famous Riblettes (strangely resembling fingers). Enjoy a prix fixe Halloween menu at Hopscotch in Oakland’s revitalized Uptown District. For $30, the haunted menu will include items such as a Deviled Quail Egg, Sansho, Black Bass RIP (rest in peas – lardo "worms" and black eyed peas), and Spice cake pumpkin mousse. Head out to the Truck or Treat Halloween Streat Party and join over 500 costumed revelers to dance, eat and drink at San Francisco’s only outdoor nighttime Halloween bash. Celebrate Halloween at Jasper’s Corner Tap & Kitchen in your costume and receive a free cocktail!
