Oakland's New Entertainment Destination 

Plank, Jack London Square's new entertainment destination, is opening this Friday with tons of fun things to do while you sip. Interactive fun and games include: bowling, bocce, video games, and an outdoor beer garden with more than 50 beers to choose from. Meanwhile, the open-exhibition kitchen churns out shared-plate offerings like crab cakes, chorizo fundido and charred shisito peppers, and larger entrée options like the char siu burrito, salt pork ramen, classic burgers, and hearth-oven pizzas. Start planning your next birthday now. 

Opens Friday, October 10: Hours are Sunday - Thursday, 11 am to midnight, & Friday - Saturday, 11 am to 1 am. 98 Broadway, Oakland 

Sunset Dinner on a Farm 

Amy and Larry Fox from Grabishfarm (who specialize in heritage-breed animals) are partnering with chef Craig DiFonzo of Lungomare and chef Lev Delany of Chop Bar, to host a scrumptious sunset feast on their Wine Country farm. The multi-course dinner will include ingredients sourced straight from the farm, and dishes include: porchetta, chicharrones, charcuterie, and pork terrine with wines from Central Coast's Field Recordings— all served in their magical eucalyptus grove. Best of all? You'll get to tour the farm, meet the animals, and poke around the garden before dinner.

Sunday, October 12: 4-7 pm, $120 per person and includes transportation from Jack London Square to 7131 Batavia Rd., Dixon and back. Get tickets here

Garden Tour & Tastings 

The Restaurant at Wente Vineyards’ and Master Gardener Diane Dovholuk join forces for a sunshine- and wine-filled weekday. Escape from the work grind for a stroll through the glorious gardens and grounds at Wente, then sit down for a chef demo using fresh picked ingredients from the property. Finally, indulge in a garden lunch with wine pairings.

Bratwurst at the W 

Nope, Oktoberfest isn't quite over yet— you still have to try the new month-long special at W San Francisco’s Living Room Bar. Order the Bratwurst with Brown Sugar-baked Sauerkraut on a soft roll for only $12. Even better? During happy hour (5-7 pm), the sandwich will be served with a complimentary Trumer Pils.

Marla Bakery Opens for Brunch 

Make your reservation now, Marla Bakery is the hot new brunch spot in town. Open only on Sundays (for now), you can look forward to dishes like: spiced doughnut, baked eggs with chorizo, bagels with pickles and fish, challah French toast, English muffins, and their drool-worthy pastries of course.

In honor of National Pizza Month and Italian Heritage Month, Hot Italian is launching the 5th Annual Moderno Italiano Festival with an entire month of free activities every week. Stop by the Public Market for an Italian vintage advertising poster installation (Oct. 9), Ducati Bike Night (Oct. 15), Italian Salumi + Formaggi 101 (Oct. 16), Frescobaldi Vino (Oct. 23), and Baci Chocolates Tasting (Oct. 30).
