SF French cafe chain La Boulange is opening yet another location. This one's downtown in the Merchants Exchange Building. Rumor has it that online ordering and office catering will become available after New Year's. 465 California St.

No plans for New Year's? New to Mid-Market AQ Restaurant & Bar is offering $90 prix fixe dinner from chef Mark Liberman. The menu starts with casava and big eye tuna with yuzu, buratta and radishes, followed by risotto of celeriac, turnips and black truffles with lettuce emulsion or charred foie gras with sea urchin, tart apple and crunchy celery. Black bass and beef two ways rounds out the meal before a midnight toast with champagne, verbena, and pink peppercorns. 1085 Mission St.

Sun. Jan. 1

Eat off your hangover at Absinthe's first New Year's brunch. The menu includes oyster shooters in a Bloody Mary sauce from the raw bar, duck confit ragout with poached eggs, and the classic morning-after favorite, hamburger and fries topped with a fried egg.  398 Hayes St. 

Tuesday, Jan. 3

The team behind Farmerbrown is set to open The Social Study, an all-day bar and lounge. Former farmerbrown manager Harmony Braga is serving Four Barrel coffee, sandwiches, and chocolate-covered bacon with hip-hop spinning in the back on Fridays. 1795 Geary St.
