Unsure of what to do this weekend? Try out these ideas.

Saturday, September 8:Sumo Champions Exhibitions

Head to the Japantown Peace Plaza for a true dose of culture shock, in the form of the Sumo wrestling. Sumo is an ancient Japanese tradition and martial art and now you can catch it in SF for free, and also experience the awesomeness that is Japantown afterwards. Bring all your friends and family to meet real Sumo wrestlers, learn about life as a Sumo and watch live matches. The matches will be between these heavy-hitters:

- Byamba, 6'1", 370 lbs, Mongolian, three-time World Sumo Champion, just astounding, off-the-charts charisma and Sumo athleticism.

- Kelly, 6'0", 430 lbs, three-time US Sumo Champion and Guinness World Record holder as the heaviest human ever to run a marathon (he completed in the Los Angeles Marathon in 2008 and 2011).

- Big Joe, 6'1", 350 lbs, Tongan, multi-time medalist at many US Sumo Open and other tournaments.

Saturday, September 8: The Ultimate Beer Tasting Event

Come thirsty, because the crew at Amsterdam Cafe is putting its vast beer knowledge and incredible selection together to offer 40 of the best and most interesting examples of what they have for a two-hour unlimited sampling event. This will be a great event both for long time beer lovers and beer newbies. You must be over 21 to join, and tickets are going fast, so get them now!

Saturday, September 8:Literary Death Match at Elbo Room

Mary Roach, who is an expert on sex, death, life after death and packing for Mars; the author and musical trickster Bud E. Luv of The Fabulous Bud E. Luv Show; and Chronicle Books publisher Nion McEvoy are judging the Literary Death Match at the Elbo Room this Saturday night. Come on down, savor the sophisticated literary stylings of the New Yorker-hailed Yiyun Li, Kevin Killian, Charles Warnke and Colin Winnette, and marvel at the awed, bemused and befuddled judgments we render.

Sunday, September 9:Lower Haight's Sunday Sidewalk Sale

There will be a lot going on on Haight Street between Webster and Fillmore this Sunday. Pedestrians can wander through and experience the best of the 'hood: a huge record sale by Rooky Ricardo's record shop (sellers are also invited to set up and sell their stash!) a vintage and film camera sale by Glass Key Photo, a vintage boombox sale, football themed kiddie crafting table- coloring, decorating hosted by Beacon (part of Buchanan YMCA, sponsors summer & afterschool programs at John Muir School), neighborhood garage sales, 20 local crafters, designers and artists selling their creations- expect clothing, jewelry, art and more!
