Guide to Pride: Prime Parade Spots, Parties, Beyonce's Little Sis and BoA

It can be fun to get lost in the crowds, but if you’re looking for some semblance of a plan, here’s our roundup of the top events this weekend:

  • Head to Castro Theatre and check out Hollywood, Je T’Aime, a sweet Tinseltown satire that follows Parisian Jerome as he tries to escape the melancholy of his French life by seeking fame and fortune in the City of Angels.
  • Prep your parade skills at Saturday’s annual Dyke March, and then march on over to Rickshaw Stop for Rebel Girl’s Hottest Dyke March After-Party, where you can dance to the beats of DJs China G, DeLux and Lisa Pittman.
  • What do you get when you combine male vaudeville and circus tricks with a five-piece Dixieland Band and throw a crown on it? Konig, King of Boylesque, of course. Watch top neo-burlesque hotties compete in four categories before a panel of celebrity judges. And FYI, there is definitely a swimsuit division.
  • A trip to Good Vibes is always a good time, but if you hit up the Valencia Street location on Saturday night, you can revel in the post-Dyke March Pink Pleasure Party. The store is partnering with lesbian-vacation provider Olivia and serving up DJ beats, go-go girls, beverages and bites.
  • It’ll be raining men when the DISCO brings its famous cherry-shaped mirror to the Mezzanine, along with renowned DJs Paul Good Year and, starting at 3 a.m., Bud Chism’s underground deep house. Yes, you heard right: 3 a.m.

  • Our bet for the best people-watching is Market Street between Fremont and First, where the TV cameras will be stationed. If reality TV has taught us anything, it’s that people tend to up their game in the face of a camera.
  • Those Knowles girls don’t mess around. So you certainly don’t want to miss Beyonce’s little sis, Solange, strut her stuff on the Civic Center main stage at 4:10 p.m. Stick around afterward for headliner BoA who, at the tender age of 22, has had 11 chart-topping albums in Asia.
