Not that anyone needs and excuse to party on Halloween, but when it falls on a Saturday, as it does this year, I can sense trouble. Pretty much every bar is going to be revving up its party atmosphere this weekend, so there's no need to list them all.

But all manner of Halloween cocktail suggestions have been landing in my inbox over the last week or so, so I thought I share a few of them with you--both the tasty-sounding and the gruesome.

Tricks and treats to start your week …

Channel your inner animal, but watch out for PETA. The Fashion Time gives us an interesting Halloween costume idea inspired by Raquel Zimmermann in November’s Vogue Paris.

Just in time for Halloween, wigs are back in the fashion spotlight. (via The Cut)

Zombie Town

Bring the terror home. Sleepwalkers Theatre premieres Zombie Town, a new horror-comedy from Bay Area playwright Tim Bauer, with members of The Catharsis Collective. Last year, the town of Harwood, Texas was forever changed when it was overrun by hordes of flesh-eating undead. The Catharsis Theatre Collective traveled to the town, interviewed the survivors and crafted a play using their exact words. When the Collective approached Sleepwalkers as a producing partner, the company jumped at the chance to present this fascinating story of grit, determination and brain-sucking zombies.

Halloween is fast approaching, and if you’re anything like us, you’re just now scrambling to make a grand plan. And though the downfall of the Castro's chaotic festivities has left everyone without an obvious choice for holiday mayhem, we're certainly not lacking in parties and play. Head to the Legion of Honor for a sophisticated Halloween spooktacular. Dance among the undead to beats by Pop Rocks and DJ Shissla in honor of the museum's latest exhibit, Very Postmortem: Mummies and Medicine. Presented by ArtPoint, the frighteningly fancy fun includes an open bar and hors d'oeuvres. Get in the spirit and quaff the plentiful potions, elixirs and witches' brew as you shimmy the night away.

Creep and crawl with the kids at Cal Academy's Green Halloween costume party. You're in for spooktacular activities, tricks, treats and surprises galore. Exhibits will remain open through the evening, providing the perfect photo opp under the jaws of the towering Tyrannosaurus Rex. Proceeds support the Academy’s education and research programs.
