Did someone say summer? This crazy warm weather is making some of us very happy, but others might still need a little encouragement that it's actually here. Some new happy hours and seasonal specials should do the trick.


At Chambers Tuesday through Friday from 5-7 pm enjoy beers, well drinks, wines, and bar bites for $5 each, including chicken liver pâté with buttered leeks, quail egg, crostini and smoked grit fries with early girl tomato aioli and barbecue spice.

Shishito peppers at Prospect

Prospectoffers happy hour specials in the bar and lounge from 4-6 pm on weekdays. There are $7 cocktails, $7 wine picks, and summery snacks like crispy squash blossoms stuffed with ricotta for $10 and fried shishito peppers with a spicy soy glaze for $8


At 25 Lusk,happy hour takes over weekdays from 5-7 pm and all well drinks are $6 and there's a selection of beers for $4 and wines by the glass for $5. There's a selection of eight different bar bites including exotic fare like local oysters with pink pepper mignonette and cilantro lime sorbet or octopus kebabs with shishito pepper, sungold tomato, and black garlic for $6 each.


At Roka Akor, from 4:30-6:30 pm on weekdays, there is a selection of cocktails at $7 or $8 each and 15 small plates. Favorites include the corn tempura with lime and salt ($6), and the "chibi" burger (a slider really) with wasabi aioli and an assortment of Japanese pickles, $3.

Palio is renowned for serving 11-inch pizzas for only $1 with the purchase of two adult beverages weekdays from 4-7 pm. Seasonal pizzas include the Rucola, a pizza of white corn and asiago cheese topped with fresh arugula and aged balsamico, and the Genovese with pesto, mozzarella, and potatoes.

During America's Cup, head to Waiheke Island Yacht Club for happy hour from 4 till 6 pm daily. Selected beers are only $6, while a tasting platter of New Zealand with venison tartar with soy radish and horseradish, citrus cured salmon, yoghurt and anise herbs and three Coromandel oysters, wasabi sorbet and lime is only $15.

Brand new Sakesan Sushi & Bistro on Clement Street offers happy hour daily from 4 til 6 pm. Oysters are $1 each, deep-fried baby octopus, fried oysters or calamari, and spicy salmon maki each for $5. Spicy tuna tartare tacos are just $2.

At Elixir, in addition to fairly typical happy hour discounts on drinks, every Thursday from 7 to 9 pm they also feature their "Cocktail Club" which is a free tasting of a featured spirit with every purchase. During the upcoming Whiskey week, both Heaven's Hill and Angel's Envy will be on the schedule.

During happy hour at Le P'tit Laurent on weekdays from 5:30 to 7 pm, guests who visit the restaurant wearing a French beret receive a free drink with the purchase of their first alcoholic beverage.
