Escape From SF: American Abalone Farms

For this week's Escape from SF, we toured American Abalone Company in Davenport with owner-farmer Tom Ebert. Ebert walked us through the process of farming abalone all the way from the seedlings to harvest to edible delicacies.

For this week's Escape from SF, we ventured south to the oldest state park in California, Big Basin Redwood State Park. Here we caught a glimpse of towering trees, tumultuous waterfalls, tent cabins, and the beautiful coastline at Waddell Creek.

We escaped the city this week to check out the Steep Ravine Cabins, which, blessedly, you can rent for a night's stay, in Mt. Tamalpais State Park, just across the Golden Gate Bridge.

Glamping on the Mendocino Coast

This week we escaped north to the rustic seaside Howard Creek Ranch Inn and B&B for some glamping, piled-high country breakfast, and super strong cowboy coffee. Perched up on the hillside in Westport, we stayed in the dog-friendly Seaview cabin complete with a outdoor kitchen, charcoal grill, enclosed outdoor shower, and massive quilts.
