1. Handsome Furs at Bottom of the Hill on Tuesday, April 15
Catch Montreal duo Handsome Furs (featuring Wolf Parade’s Dan Boeckner and Alexei Perry) when they bring their ecstatically mopey indie rock to town.

2. Annie Leibovitz at the Nikko Hotel on Wednesday, April 16
Get up close and personal with the legendary photographer at this Commonwealth Club engagement.

3. Persepolis at Sundance Kabuki on Thursday, April 17
See the English version of the Oscar-nominated animated film Persepolis, which follows a whipsmart young girl in Iran during the Islamic Revolution, and features the vocal talents of everyone from Sean Penn to Iggy Pop.

4. “Susquehanna” at In color 2
Don’t miss Johanna Case-Hofmeister’s first Bay Area solo exhibition, "Susquehanna," on view at In Color 2 (2475 Third Street, Suite 251 (@ 22nd Street), through May 30. The SF transplant's color-saturated images trace a narrative through rural upstate New York. Open Monday through Friday from 9am to 6pm.

5. The Crucible's “Firebird”
An update of Stravinsky’s "Firebird: L'oiseau de feu," the Crucible’s second annual incendiary fire ballet Firebird plays April 16-19.

6. Steve Aoki at 1015 Folsom on Saturday, April 19
Indie music renaissance man (he owns a record label, a fashion line and a reputation for killing on the dance floor) and scenemaker Steve Aoki stages a dance party in SF that’s guaranteed to heat up.

7. Green Apple Festival, April 18–20
Pre-party for Earth Day at the annual free festival in Golden Gate Park’s Speedway Meadow, which this year features environmental speakers and musical acts including Mickey Hart’s Mass Drums, Yonder Mountain String Band, Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks and Brett Dennen.
