There's definitely never been a shortage of bustling, creative minds here in the Bay Area. The region has boasted some of the most groundbreaking work in music, literature and technology the world has ever seen. So to celebrate, KALW 91.7 FM, the Bay Area's longest-running non-commercial radio station for 70 years, has put together a fascinating video series called Creatives on KALW, which profiles six eccentric creative minds making waves in the Bay Area today, and how KALW has nurtured their work.

You'll meet the likes of Jo Kreiter, a choreographer who creates dances for fire escapes and walls, or Rupa Marya, leader of Rupa & The April Fishes and a doctor at UCSF, who writes songs based on her patients' experiences. The series was put together by producer Eric Jansen and filmmaker Jon Felix, and funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Just take a look at this segment on the visionary Jon Ginoli, who created the nation's first out rock band, Pansy Division:
