Local Filmmaker and Farmer Get Hitched in Sonoma

Local filmmaker Casey and local farmer Austin's colorful and fun nuptials also marked the completion of Casey's latest documentary on being a farmer's wife.

The couple met at Tufts University where Casey was a budding documentary filmmaker and Austin was a biochemistry major. After graduation, Casey used her Fulbright Scholarship to travel around the world and make several critically acclaimed documentaries – Austin traveled with her.

While on location in Buenos Aires, Austin's love of food blossomed. Casey filmed, and Austin worked in a high-end restaurant where he learned from some of Buenos Aires' best chefs. When they returned to the States, Austin's attention shifted from cooking to food sourcing, and he went on to work at one of Sonoma's best loved organic farms, Paul's Produce.

Long hours, erratic schedules, low pay, and tough manual labor mark the life of the farmer – and Casey decided to make it the subject of her next film. The Organic Life chronicles the relationship between Casey and Austin over the course of a year, following the trials and tribulations their relationship faced. The documentary was completed just a few weeks before the wedding, making for quite the celebration.
