Harvest Party at the Ranch

Greetings friends,

McEvoy Ranch in Marin County was the stunning setting this weekend for the annual McEvoy Harvest Party. Nestled deep in the Marin countryside, a mile or two from Petaluma, this is the “must-attend” event of the year. I went with my dear friends Lauren Williams and John Peake.

A happy mix of farmers, city folk and the hoy polloy... ooh and some media (the lowly surfs, if you will) joined the McEvoy family, for an afternoon of food, wine, entertainment and conversation.  The weather was disagreeable but that didn’t dampen the spirits of the 300-plus attendees who enjoyed a three-course meal in a lovely setting.

The McEvoys are the producers of the best olive oil on the planet—mamma mia, it’s da bomb. We had it drizzled on salad, nestled on mash potatoes and circled around the fish plate. Yummy!

Nion McEvoy—stopping at almost every table to say hello—was the ever amiable and gracious host, making sure everyone was having a good time. Not to mention that everyone who attended got to go home with a happy tummy and a limited edition sample of the McEvoy’s 2008 offering.

And whom did I run into as I grabbed my gift bag? The Chuck Williams, yes, he of Williams-Sonoma.  I was hoping to work him for a set of saucepans, but his ride came and he departed or rather escaped before I could even say “cheerio.”

Enjoy my pics from a mad, fab afternoon on the ranch!

Cheers,
Liam
